From a macro viewpoint, wire & cable industry in China is in the rapid growth. Despite the price hike of major raw materials like cooper, aluminum and plastic put a lot of wire & cable enterprises into trouble, under the “11th Five-Year Plan”, such industries as electric power, railway, metro line, energy, architecture, communications and auto will continue to be invested in a big way in the following five years, surely bringing the valuable opportunities to wire & cable industry. Thus, wire & cable industry is still regarded as a promising “sunrise industry” in our country.
During “10th Five-Year Plan”, wire & cable industry was second to auto industry in terms of gross output value of industry in our country and China was the second largest wire & cable manufacturing country with the gross output value second to America, ahead of Japan.
According to 2001-2004 China wire & cable development statistics, wire & cable industry in our country was in rapid development on the whole. In addition to the increasingly number of newly established enterprises, the number of enterprises enjoying mass production was up to 2219 in 2004 from 1709 in 2000 with the average annual growth rate of 7.46%.
According to the sources from National Bureau of Statistics, in 2005, the sales volume in wire & cable industry in China reached RMB180 billion with the growth rate of 58% on power cable. From Jan. to Nov. in 2005, 670.78-kilometer power cables were laid and 689.6 thousand ton steel-cored aluminum strands were used.
Since reform and opening up, in wire & cable industry, there have had more than 7 thousand plants (more than 2 thousand enterprises enjoying mass production) in stead of previously 123 specialized plants. China wire & cable industry is second to none even in the world with such marvelous achievement.
Among these 7 thousand plants, some don’t adapt to market-oriented economy to fall into bankruptcy or switch to the manufacturing of other lines of products, but the survivals basically go well. More attentions shall by paid to the established wire & cable |
